By: Lieutenant-Colonel John Malcolm
First Printed in 1812, this re-print is by Satvic Media in 2007. It is a new hardcover book in very good condition.
John Malcolm published the first serious study of Sikhism by a European. Malcolm first served in India in the army of the East India Company and later in the diplomatic corp of the British Raj. He was the first among the Europeans who tried to reach out the original historical sources of the Sikhs - and although he didn't always get it right, there is a lot to be gained from his authentic perspective of the early 1800's.
This book is a must read for anyone looking for first-hand descriptions of the Sikhs in the 19th century.
